For 15 years, Jane Duncan was involved in the 4-H Horse Club, the BV Hoofbeats. Jane started leading the club with Delbert Tibbets. When Delbert passed away Jan continued the club with the help of Jane Rosenthal, followed by Jo Heschke. Jane provided strong leadership to those interested in horses and she encouraged 4-H’ers to show their animals and held many showmanship practices at the fairgrounds during her tenure as a 4-H leader. They also sponsored 4-H horse shows in Buena Vista County and worked on improvements to the show ring. She took members to 4-H shows in other counties and they practiced for the Ak-Sar-Ben qualifying show. Fun and safety were two important words in Janes’s vocabulary.
