Frank and Carol Sivesind were 4-H members as youth and later became club leaders. They have always been supportive of the 4-H program and strongly encourage participation.
Frank was a 4-H member of the Ludlow Future Farmers 4-H Club and showed dairy cattle at the local fair, district shows, Iowa State Fair and the World Dairy Expo. As a 4-H member, he attended the state 4-H camp and received awards for leadership, dairy, agriculture, and achievement. Frank became a leader of the Ludlow Future Farmers 4-H Club where he held that role for more than 10 years.
Carol was a 4-H member of the Ludlow Future Homemakers 4-H Club. Uniforms were worn to county events when she was a member and she remembers the turquoise dress with a sailor collar and white bow! Each year there were “emphasis projects” that she enrolled in such as food and nutrition, clothing and home improvement. Carol was a leader of the Ludlow Future Homemakers 4-H Club for approximately six years. Carol has baked and donated several pies to the fair food stand over the years.
The Sivesind’s 4-H tradition continued with their four children and grandchildren. Their children Dan, Lori, Mary and Peggy were members of the same clubs as Frank and Carol. They showed dairy cattle and exhibited several other projects at the county and State Fair. Currently their son, Dan, is a leader and their six grandchildren are members of the Ludlow Future Farmers 4-H Club. They continue to assist their grandchildren with their projects.
Frank and Carol have been very supportive of their family and other youth at various fairs and county 4-H events. Frank has helped coach the dairy judging teams over the years and the Sivesind’s have hosted several practice workouts at their farm.
Frank and Carol enjoy working with youth; they believe and live the 4-H pledge through their commitment and heartfelt love for 4-H.
