2008 Grundy County - John SchreckJohn became interested in 4-H when he was in 5th grade and joined the Grant County Go Getters 4-H Club in Grundy County.  He was a member of this 4-H club for five years until his family moved to town. His 4-H projects won many awards and included beef, sheep, & horses that he showed at the county fair.

As an adult, John became involved in the 4-H program when his three children joined 4-H.  He spent many hours helping them with their 4-H projects.  In 1992, he agreed to be one of the Horse & Pony Superintendents at the Grundy County Fair. He has continued this role as superintendent for the past 16 years along with his wife LuAnne.  He was awarded the Grundy County Meritorious Award in 1999.  For six years, beginning in 2001, he was a member of the Youth Committee where he served as president for many of those years.  He was very active on this committee helping with many activities such as the annual 4-H Omelet breakfast, the county fair, the before and after fair clean-ups and many sheep and hog weigh- ins.

John has always been a strong supporter of his three children Carrie, Christy, and Michael.  He has shared his support of 4-H with the youth in Grundy County for many years and has been a positive role model.
