2008 Floyd County - Marian and Bob DightBob & Marian have been involved in the Floyd County 4-H Program for almost their entire lives.  When they were younger, in school, they were both actively involved in their local 4-H Clubs and showed at the Floyd County Fair.

When their children were old enough, they all were encouraged to join 4-H and to take advantage of every opportunity to learn everything they could through the different programs and activities.  For a number of years, Bob was a member of the Floyd County Extension Council and the Floyd County Fair Board.  During this time, he was instrumental in making changes to make the opportunities for education better for the youth of Floyd County.  Marian was also a 4-H Leader and member of the 4-H County Committee for a number of years.

They have clearly instilled the right type of attitudes regarding 4-H and the Floyd County Fair into their children, as their daughter was a 4-H leader for a number of years, and the oldest son was the Horticulture Superintendent for a number of years and is currently on the Floyd County Fair Board and Extension Council.  Two of their grandchildren have also been actively involved in the Floyd County Fair. Jessica participated in 4-H for 9 years before also serving as the Floyd County Fair Queen and now working with the Extension Office in Floyd County. Josh will be a senior next year and continues to become more involved with the fair through FFA.

Even now, they have not been able to separate themselves from the fair, taking on new roles this year as the Meat Goat Superintendents.  After a life of involvement, it is difficult to think of any aspect of the Floyd County Fair without also thinking of Bob and Marian.  They have certainly helped the fair become what it is today.
