Dan and Mary Burkhart have been great assets to the Fayette County 4-H program.
Dan serves as the Fayette County Extension Education Director and has for the past 36 years. Dan, along with two Fayette County 4-H Alumni spearheaded the Fayette County 4-H Foundation Endowment fund, which recently reached $25,000. With the love of nature that Dan has it was in 2005 that the 4-H Safety Education in Shooting Sports was once again introduced in Fayette County. Hunting is Dan’s passion so during the many hunting seasons you will find Dan in the wilderness either with his wife, fellow workers or members of the Fayette County 4-H SESS club who are in need of a hunting partner.
Mary, who recently retired as a RN at the local hospital is a person who enjoys being behind the scene when it comes to 4-H. Both Mary and Dan are very well rounded individuals who help out at many community and church events. They belong to many organizations within West Union and the surrounding area. They are the parents of two children Tim and his family who reside in Oregon and Kara and her family of Fayette, Iowa. They are the proud grandparents of three grandchildren.
