Roberta Pfadenhauer was a five year member of the New London Lassies 4-H Club in Henry County, in which she carried projects in foods, clothing and home improvement. Wesley (Wes) Pfadenhauer did not have the benefit of 4-H membership. When their three children, Kimberly, Christy and Julie, joined 4-H in Des Moines County, they became very supportive and active parents.
Their interest in 4-H continued after their children were no longer in 4-H. Roberta has judged at several local county fairs and has served on the Des Moines County Extension Council, while Wes does pullorum testing for poultry each year at the Des Moines County Fair. Through their involvement in the Southeast Iowa Pigeon Club, they have expanded the clubs involvement in 4-H in both Des Moines County and other Southeast Iowa counties.
This year, they have the pleasure of helping their granddaughter, Brittany, in her first year of 4-H as she exhibits projects and shows dairy goats.
