Gary’s parents established the Westside Feeders 4-H club in East Pottawattamie County. Gary was a member, his three daughters, Heidi, Robin and Missy were members of the club and Gary served as a leader for over 20 years. He now has grandchildren in 4-H that he enjoys supporting as they learn from the 4-H program.
Gary served on the E. Pottawattamie Extension Council and the 4-H County Youth Committee. Gary held the positions of Beef Superintendent and Horse Superintendent at the county fair and was instrumental in establishing the 4-H Livestock Sale held at the conclusion of each county fair. In recent years Gary has worked with the 4-H mentoring program for horseless youth and has provided horses for several members to learn the skills associated with that project area.
