Paul and Marlene have been involved with the Calhoun County 4-H program several ways since moving to the county in 1973. Marlene was a 4-H leader for 15 years, served on the Youth Committee, has helped with county and NW Area record book judging, judged at county fairs, and judged State Awards. Paul has been the fair vet and has helped with weigh-ins and getting livestock information to the kids. They are also 4-H 1000 Club members.
Paul and Marlene, former Story Co. and Buena Vista Co. 4-Hers, met while working in the 4-H Home Improvement department at the Iowa State Fair in 1966 while they were college students. After moving to Calhoun County in 1973, they continued to be involved in and support 4-H on both the county and state level. They are strong advocates for the life skills that 4-H teaches and the opportunities 4-H provides youth as evidenced in the lives of their five children, Eric, Todd, Amy, Alyssa, and Aaron. Calhoun County would like to thank Paul and Marlene Armbrecht for the countless hours of dedication and financial support they have given and continue to give to the 4-H program.
