John and Debbie Straight are outstanding 4-H volunteers. Both of them have been active in Harrison County’s 4-H youth development program for longer than 13 years.
Debbie is currently the volunteer organizational leader to a very successful and dynamic 4-H club that has over 60 members. She sets the standard by which 4-H leaders are judged in our county.
John on the other hand is active with the exhibition side of youth development. John has served on the Harrison County Fair Board for more than 20 years and is currently the fair board president. In addition to those duties John serves as a member on the state-wide Association of Iowa Fair Boards and is quite active in that role.
John and Debbie spend countless hours at the fairgrounds each year preparing for and conducting the fair. Even though their daughter, Nicole, is grown and out of 4-H, the next generation of their family is already beginning with Clover Kids. Our county would be at a loss if it wasn’t for John and Debbie’s unselfish service to 4-H.
