Jerry has been an active supporter of the Grundy County 4-H Program for many of years. Jerry has been very supportive of his children, grandchildren, and all of the youth in Grundy County. His interest in 4-H grew when his daughter started showing poultry and his poultry project has been growing ever since. He has been a member of the Grundy County Fair Board for more than fourteen years and is constantly looking for ways to improve our fair & fairgrounds in order to fit the needs of our 4-H’ers and 4-H program. Jerry has also served as a superintendent of the open poultry show and volunteers time to help with the broiler weigh in at the Iowa State Fair. Jerry’s is a great dad and a great grandpa according to his kids. His daughter Heather accredits him for making it possible for her family to exhibit poultry because he has kept their animals on his farm and helped them with all of the deadlines, as well as teaching them what they need to do when exhibiting their animals. When ever Jerry is contacted by someone interested in purchasing chickens he always asks them if they are a 4-H’er. And if they are he either gives them the better birds or a discount. Jerry is always promoting the 4-H Program.
