Ken Showalter has always been a strong supporter of 4-H in Franklin County, being the second of 4 generations involved with the program. As a member he was active in livestock and judging projects. He served on the 4-H committee and as a 4-H leader for 15 years. His 4 children were active in many projects and leadership roles as 4-H members. His grandchildren have also been involved in 4-H. He served on the Franklin County fairboard for 30 years always promoting the fair as a strong family and youth event, and was instrumental in building a new 4-H exhibit hall. He has been active in the Franklin County Historical Society that has a 4-H and FFA wing, and in developing Grandpa’s Farm at the fairgrounds.
