Sharon and Tim Lemkau have been very active in the Webster County 4-H program as they started a co-ed club for their own children to be involved with; had club meetings in their home the last ten years; worked with the aerospace and rabbit projects by providing leadership, fair support, and working with the youth as they learned in these areas.  They promoted the aerospace program during the Iowa State Fair for a few years; chaperoned the 2004 Citizenship Washington Focus trip, chaperoned 4-H conference, and chaperoned many 4-H dances.  They supported their children in the 4-H program and saw the benefits that come with being actively involved in 4-H.  They also encouraged all 4-H’ers to be their best.

As their children finished 4-H, the announcement came that they were going to slow down from their 4-H activities.  Just as they started to do this, Sharon was diagnosed with bone cancer and died in February 2006.  Sharon and Tim were presented this award in February, the night before Sharon died.  No one can ever replace her love of the 4-H program or 4-H kids.  Memorial money will support a 4-H scholarship in her name for the next fifteen years.
