Lowell Tiedt has been a valuable asset to the 4-H/Youth program of Jones County for many years. According to the county extension staff, “He will volunteer to help with almost anything, and when he does, you know it will be done right.” Lowell has served on the county Youth Committee and currently serves as the county fair youth swine superintendent. Lowell also helped initiate a county Livestock Committee to assist in coordinating and improving the 4-H and FFA livestock show activities at the Great Jones County Fair. Whether its refereeing a basketball game, weighing in pigs, or judging 4-H award applicants, Lowell will be one of the first volunteers to sign-up. Lowell’s dedication to the 4-H livestock program can also be seen through his service as co-superintendent of the 4-H Beef Department at the Iowa State Fair.
