Arlyn & Lois FossumThe Allamakee County 4-H & Youth Committee are proud to recognize Arlyn and Lois Fossum as the 2006 Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame inductees from Allamakee County.  The Fossums have exhibited life-long service to the Iowa 4-H program.

Arlyn was a 4-H member of the Elon PMC club and showed dairy cattle at the local fair, district shows, World Expo and the Iowa State Fair.  Later, Arlyn became a leader of the Elon PMC where he held that role for over 28 years.  In his time as a leader, Arlyn taught his 4-H’ers to lead and fit their cattle and encouraged them to take multiple projects to the fair.

Lois was a leader of the 4-H Toppers club over 10 years.  As a leader, she developed and created the welcome sign to Waterville.  Lois continues to be a mentor within the community in her role as piano teacher.  Each year, she teaches over 18 children the love of music.

The Fossum’s 4-H tradition continued with their children.  All four children, Brad, Kevin, Marcia and Rachelle showed dairy cattle and other livestock as well as bringing food and clothing items to the county and State Fair.  The Fossums enjoy working with youth and continue to assist their grandchildren and other neighboring children with shared dairy projects.  The Fossums are sill actively involved with the county fair and aid where necessary.  Arlyn and Lois believe and live the 4-H pledge through their commitment and heartfelt love for 4-H.
