Karlton Eberling is an excellent example of a leader in the Iowa 4-H program. Karlton farmed all of his life on a dairy farm near Postville, Iowa. He was a 4H leader for 18 years. He also served terms on the Allamakee 4-H Youth Committee and Allamakee County Extension Council. He received the Iowa Farmer degree in 1950 and has been involved with the Guernsey and Brown Swiss breeds and activities for many years. He passed his love of the dairy industry onto his children as they were all active in the dairy project area and judging teams. The Eberlings often hosted judging workouts at their farm. Karlton passed away on March 31, 2005, but his contributions to the Allamakee 4H program will always be remembered.
