2005 Winneshiek County - Arlin HansonArlin Hanson has been an active and strong supporter of the Winneshiek County 4-H program for over 67 years!

Arlin Hanson started his 4-H career in 1938 as a member of the Canoe Huskie Helpers.   His main project was dairy where he earned a pin from the American Guernsey Cattle Club.  In 1941, he also became Vice President of his club.

Arlin and his wife Virginia have five children, Randy, Greg, Sandy, Wendy and Brian who were all very active 4-H'ers in Winneshiek County.  While his children were a part of the 4-H program, Arlin became a leader of the Springville Choreboys starting in 1971.  His children have followed his positive example of being a 4-H volunteer and helping young 4-H'ers learn.  They too have continued the tradition of being 4-H Leaders and volunteers in NE Iowa.  Arlin and Virginia also have many grandchildren that are very active in the 4-H program.

Arlin continues to be an active and important volunteer in the Winneshiek County 4-H program.  For the past 35 years, Arlin has run the scale for sheep and beef weigh-ins for the county fair.  His positive attitude and encouraging words to 4-H'ers have made him important asset to the 4-H program.   Arlin also has been instrumental in raising money for the Winneshiek County 4-H program.  He is a true role model and advocate for youth and the 4-H program in Winneshiek County.
