2005 Washington County - Mike OrrisIn 1957, Mike was asked to be the secretary/treasurer of the Washington County Fair Board.  He has continued to be active in the Washington County Fair for 48 years.  After serving as secretary/treasurer, he became fair manager and continues to serve in that role.

Mike has seen a lot of changes and worked with many people since he started 48 years ago on the Washington County Fair Board.  He says there is definitely more activities and more happenings at the fair now.  Mike works year-round to help maintain the fairgrounds and make improvements on the grounds.  He spends countless hours at the fairgrounds year-round to handle reservations for fair buildings, bookkeeping, fair scheduling, making contacts, fair set-up, etc.  When asked about the county fair and the work he does, Mike has said, “It’s all for the kids, the boys and girls.”

Mike believes in 4-H whole heartedly and strongly believes it is a great program for youth.

Mike also volunteers weekly at the Vets Hospital and has helped with the local Handicap Fish day for many years.
