Ray Holdsworth has been a dedicated 4-H leader for 31 years! He leads the Mahaska County Dog Trainers, a specialty club. Hundreds of youth have learned how to properly train their dogs in both obedience and agility. Ray’s enthusiasm for the 4-H program has inspired 57 4-Her’s to enroll in dog projects this year; 25 of those youth will actually show their dogs at the 2005 Southern Iowa Fair. His dedication to the Mahaska County 4-H program has helped to grow this project area each year and also draw community sponsorships that provide medals and trophies for the dog obedience and agility exhibitors. It has been my pleasure to work with Ray and watch him interact, teach and mentor the kids throughout the summer. He is a valuable volunteer to the Mahaska County 4-H program and would be a worthy recipient of the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame award.
