Julia was a member of her local 4-H club for 5 years when she was younger and enjoyed the experience. She was a leader of the Alden 4-H Club for 9 years starting in 1983. Her children were very involved in Hardin County 4-H and Fair. Her influence on her three children during their growing years has been very evident. Her granddaughter has already started her involvement in the Hardin County 4-H program. Julia is presently serving on the Hardin County Fairboard as Treasurer which she has done for several years. Julia went on the Citizenship Washington D.C. Focus trip as a chaperone. Julia and her husband, Merlyn chaperoned our senior 4-H’ers on the Chicago trip. Julia is always willing to help with the 4-H’ers on Conference Judging Day at the fair.
Some comments from Hardin County citizens: “Whether it is the fair, 4-H, or way back when in Porkettes, Julia is always supportive and never needs a fanfare. She supports with her whole heart!!” “Julia is always willing to help organize or help with time do many things for 4-H, Fair and community. She wants everyone to learn and have an opportunity to succeed with projects or events so she is willing to help.” “She is always quietly “in charge” and gets things accomplished.”
Julia is very deserving of this honor and Hardin County 4-H is better for having Julia involved in our program.
