Dave Flint may be remembered for tenure with the Hampton FFA program, but he has been involved with 4-H since the early 40’s when he was a member himself. Over the years he has worked cooperatively with the Franklin County 4-H program, particularly livestock judging. After retirement, Dave worked to save the history of Franklin County 4-H clubs for the county Historical Society.
Dave was a member of the Adams Hawkeyes 4-H Club in Dallas County. Many of the goals used in the 1940’s are still used today, most importantly that 4-H’ers learn by doing – using “Hands On” technique. It reminded him of a philosophy he employed in his years of teaching: “Tell me and I will forget. Show me and I will remember. Involve me and I will understand.”
