Dr. John F. Hitzhusen has been an advocate for the youth of Floyd County.  He has served on the board of directors of the Fair Society for a number of years working to improve the facilities for our 4-H youth exhibitors.

Dr. Hitzhusen has been the official clerk at our auction of livestock for numerous years. In his honor the auction box was named Doc’s Box.  During his semi-retirement years he began a new hobby of baking bread.  He would bring several loaves to the auction to be auctioned off to the highest bidder with the money going to the 4-H Program.

Dr. Hitzhusen has served on the board of directors of our local community college and has been active in numerous organizations in our community, always with the youth of our community in his best interest.

In 1997 Dr. Hitzhusen was named Man of Year by the Charles City Area Chamber of Commerce.
