Jan was a 4-H member for 10 years in the Charter Oak Boosters club at Charter Oak. Thirty-five years ago she started as leader for the Happy Hustlers 4-H club in the Vail area. Jan took four clubs from four different school districts and combined those clubs into one big club. After the youth in her family were older she was on the Youth Committee in Crawford County. In October of 1992 became the Program Assistant in Crawford County.
Jan has a real love for 4-H. She loves working with all the youth and it doesn’t matter what age they are. Jan has worked with the Clover Kid program for 6 years now. She has seen these youth join 4-H which is very rewarding. In her 13 years in the Extension office, she has seen many of her county council members, go on to college, get married and receive some outstanding jobs. She is very proud of these people and has stayed on contact with many of them.
Jan’s husband of 42 years always supports her in her work. As does her children and grandchildren.
4-H has always been a big part of Jan’s life and will continue to be so in the future.
