2004 Webster County - Judy ReynoldsJudy was raised in a small town in Iowa where there were no 4-H clubs.  However, she had several country friends who were 4-H members and she enjoyed watching them work on and display their exhibits at the county fair.  When she started working with Extension she felt she had a small idea of what 4-H was all about.  She was surprised to find that the 4-H program had grown into an organization offering much more in learning experiences and a full range of project areas for both girls and boys.

Through her work with Extension, she watched several generations of young people come in frightened to do things at first but grow into confident and talented 4-Hers.  Judy felt that she grew along with them.  She enjoyed helping them by making copies for recordbooks; running recipes or instructions for demonstrations; trying to help locate sources of information for various projects, etc.  The 4-Hers always seemed to be eager to learn.

The Webster County 4-H Program lost a valued friend when Judy Reynolds retired as Office Manager of the ISU/Webster County Extension Office after 31 years of service.  During those years, Judy supported the 4-H members, their families, the volunteer leaders, and the 4-H Staff in many ways.  Judy treated all who contacted extension with equal respect, no question was a silly one, nor was she ever too busy to take time to help someone.

Judy Reynolds truly cared about the families in Webster County.  She received the Webster County Honorary 4-H’er Award in 1979.
