Polk County is proud to induct Ira Cory into the 2004 4-H Hall of Fame for his many years of support and service to the county 4-H program.
Ira was the leader of Elkhart Rising Sons (now named Elkhart Rising Suns) for 15 years and all 4 of his children were 4-H members. He served on the Polk County Extension Council for 2 years and was a Polk County Fair Board member for 27 years (also served as Fair Board President).
Ira was Superintendent of the Advanced Cattle Feeder Department at the Polk County Fair for 15 years. The Polk County Beef Weigh-in was held on his farm for many years.
In addition, Ira has helped and fired the pit at Iowa State Fair BBQ for 4-H and FFA members for 50 years.
