Howard has been a respected advocate for 4-H in Mitchell county for many years. He started his career in 4-H in 1935 as a club member. As an adult he has supported 4-H as a 30-year member of the Mitchell County Agricultural Society; volunteered as Beef superintendent and project leader for more than 30 years sharing his expertise as a cattle feeder and purebred Hereford breeder; served as a community club leader for 23 years; was recognized as an Honorary 4-H’er in 1979; and, represented the Fair board on the Ribbon Auction committee.
Although retired from his positions, Howard continues to stay involved so that he can “…meet new people and watch the times change.”
