Shirley Stanley comes from a three generation 4-H Family! She was a 4-H charter member for 9 years of the 4 Leaf Lassies 4-H Club started by her mother in 1950.
Shirley Stanley has been an active 4-H volunteer for over 25 years. Shirley has judged county fairs for 8 years and judged local achievement shows for 5 years.
She has volunteered in the 4-H Exhibit Building at the State Fair the past 12 years and has been on staff at the Agriculture Building at State Fair for past 5 years.
She is currently a volunteer leader to the local Clover Kids group, a job she has enjoyed for the past 3 years. Shirley served 5 years as a volunteer leader to Jefferson County’s 4-H County Council.
Shirley’s husband Leland is 4-H Judge at County Fairs and volunteers every year at State Fair 4-H Building and works as staff at State Fair with Shirley. Their two daughters, Reesa & Deena, were active in 4-H, County Council, and State 4-H Staff at State Fair. Shirley and Leland are Iowa 4-H Foundation Donors (Heart-$1000) and are donors to Jefferson County’s Friends of 4-H Fund every year. Shirley has served as Secretary of the Jefferson County 4-H Foundation for 5 years.
And in her spare time, Shirley has helped out as the substitute Office Assistant in the Jefferson County Extension Office for the past 7 years!
Shirley has received the Outstanding 4-H Leader Award by Youth Committee for 20 years of service and has also received the Honorary 4-H Award for Jefferson County Volunteers.
Jefferson County believes Shirley Stanley is worthy of induction into the 2004 Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame.
