2004 Bremer County - Kathy and Bill ThomsBill was a member of the Townline 4-H club for 10 years. During his 4-H career he was club officer and county officer. He also received the Dairy, Arnold Hexom, Implement Dealers, Agriculture, Community Service, Leadership, and Achievement Awards at the county level.  Bill received the I Dare You Award in 1964. He also went to Washington DC on the Citizenship Washington Focus Trip.

Bill became blind at the age of 28 and was always encouraging and friendly to everyone and would greet you with “you’re looking good today.”

Bill and Kathy started the Bremer Ranchers 4-H club in 1994 and Bill was a leader until his death.  Bill was a member of Youth Committee for 4 years during that time also.  Their son Adam was an active member of the club and was always excited about the fair.  The Thoms family spends many hours at the Bremer County Fairgrounds getting ready for fair.  Their 4-H club was instrumental in building the Snak Shak, which is the 4-H food stand at the Fairgrounds, and has done a lot of landscaping and painting on the grounds.  Bill was very passionate about 4-H and his 4-H friends were his best friends.

Bill and Kathy were both on the Bremer County 4th Grade Safety Day committee and put in countless hours to make that program run smooth and helped with several of the sessions.  The community and their church are a big part of their lives and their family and friends can count on them to help whenever needed.

Kathy has continued to be a leader of the club she and Bill started and continues to promote 4-H and the Bremer County Fair.  She is the Bremer County Financial Director and also a member of the Red Hat Society.
