Sylvia Carr and Helen Herr have donated countless hours to the Adair County 4-H program. They’ve served as co-superintendents for the 4-H and FFA Building at the county fair for more than 28 years overseeing building set-up, making sure the judges are ready to go, welcoming each and every participant, answering countless questions, making sure every member gets their ribbons, and working with the building hosts to make sure the building is in tip top condition as fairgoers stop by.
Sylvia and Helen keep up on all the current rules and help both groups and individuals as they prepare for the fair experience. Both have volunteered time at the state fair, too.
The most important contribution that Helen and Sylvia make to the Adair County 4-H program is by serving as positive role models. They can always find a kind and encouraging word to share, they take a personal interest in every young person and cheer for each and every one of them as they find success, and they model teamwork for everyone to see. Sylvia and Helen are both super volunteers giving not only to the 4-H program but to the historical society and their churches.
