Teamwork defines the accomplishments of Jack and Nancy Burright, Woodbury County’s Hall of Fame inductees. The outstanding accomplishments of this couple are a source of pride for all groups and organizations that work with them.
Mr. and Mrs. Burright have volunteered years of service to their clubs, community, country, and world. Jack served as leader of the Pierson Blue Ribbon 4-H Club for seven years, Nancy was leader of the Pierson Handy Helpers for over thirty years. Both have been actively involved in Woodbury County 4-H and Extension programs.
The Burrights’ worked as Woodbury County Fair Managers for eighteen years. Their hard work and pride in the Woodbury County Fair sets high standards for all those to follow. Jack and Nancy both received recognition from Iowa State University Extension in 1980. Nancy was honored with the State 4-H Alumni award, Jack the Honorary 4-H Award. Nancy is currently a member of the Iowa 4-H Foundation.
In addition to their service to 4-H, they are both involved in the Pierson Town and Country Club, promoting activities and the town of Pierson. Jack serves as Commander of the local Legion Post, and Nancy is the president of the Auxiliary. Both are active members of the Pierson Christian Church, holding multiple offices during their membership. Jack also is a member of the Executive Committee of the multi-state Regional Board of their church. Jack is currently serving as Vice President of the Woodbury County Farm Bureau.
Both would probably acknowledge their greatest contribution is their four children (all Iowa 4-H alumni) and three grandchildren (one Marshall County 4-H’er and two who are not old enough yet).
Thank you Jack and Nancy for your dedication to Woodbury County and beyond.
