From the late 1950’s through the 1990’s, as Webster County Fair Secretary, Virginia always had the 4-H’ers best interest in mind. She could often be seen encouraging, applauding, and congratulating a member’s achievements. Virginia was also known to sit down and shed a tear along side an emotional club member who was dealing with a disappointment. Virginia continued that visible support of 4-H members through the years as she followed them in their school and community activities.
Virginia’s children and grandchildren participated in the 4-H program. She was inducted into the Association of Iowa Fairs’ Hall of Fame for her service to the Webster County Fair. Virginia was a role model for many 4-H members, parents, volunteers, and extension staff, with her values and positive attitude for which she will always be remembered.
