Darwin and his family have been involved in 4-H for many years in O’Brien County. He has lived in the Primghar area his entire life, where he raises corn and soybeans and has a swine finishing operation. Darwin and his wife Jan have two daughters, Darcy and Danielle, who also are active in 4-H.
Darwin was a long time member of the Highlanders 4-H club in O’Brien County, where he participated in local club activities and attended the State 4-H Conference and Citizenship Washington Focus Trip.
Darwin’s strong leadership and focus on the 4-H youth in O’Brien County has been very positive for the youth in this county. His attitude and hard work has created many opportunities for O’Brien County 4-H’ers. He has served the past 26 years as a 4-H leader where he has volunteered countless hours helping with a variety of 4-H club work, fair dances and has recently been active helping to remodel the fairgrounds. He currently serves as a swine superintendent had has been a fair board member for over 20 years, the past 5 years as president.
