Curt Smith is the 4-H Hall of Fame inductee from Dickinson County. Curt is a former 4-H’er and an Ag Specialty graduate from Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He has five years experience as a 4-H Leader for the Superior Lakers Club with a membership of fifty plus youth! His club is known for it’s active participation and fun leadership.
As a club leader, Curt stresses that 4-H is an organization committed to teaching life skills. He helps focus youth on learning how to live life better. Curt also believes that membership to a club is a commitment and expects participation in all areas of the club, not just fair. He strives to promote teamwork among the members and teaches that active involvement creates a better club for all members.
Curt Smith is a certified Toastmaster, Extension Council Member, Dog Project Superintendent, Sheep Committee Member, 4-H leader and parent of two enthusiastic 4-Her’s! He enjoys raising purebred Suffolk sheep and gardening.
Curt was featured in the Iowa Farmer Today two years ago for his work with rotational grazing and pasture management. This spring he planted over 1,000 trees in a wetland area as a wildlife preserve. He is a career salesman currently operating his own recruiting business.
It is with great pleasure that Dickinson County names Mr. Curt Smith to the 2002 Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame. His contributions and enthusiasm in working with the 4-H Program in Dickinson County have been invaluable. Congratulations Curt!
