2002 Buchanan - Pat ArthaudPat Arthaud of Hazleton has been actively involved in 4-H in Buchanan County.  She began service to 4-H in 1956 as a consultant to her late husband when he worked with his club members on demonstrations.  Pat then served as a project leader in clothing.  She went on to serve as a local club leader from 1967-1982.  In 1981, Pat received the Buchanan County 4-H Honorary Member award. 

Pat moved out of the county in 1981 and started to judge county fairs and achievement shows.  She continues to judge communications and clothing events.  In 1994, Pat was recognized with a plaque awarded by the Hazelton Commercial Club for serving 4-H.  Pat was awarded the State 4-H Honorary Member recognition in 1995.  She served as the co-chair of a state committee to revise 4-H recordkeeping until 1997.  Pat has been a consultant to Northeast Iowa area record book winners by assisting with state and national record applications for over 30 years.  She has judged State Fair presentations, working exhibits, clothing selection, personal development, and 4-H history/heritage.  Pat has been a presenter for county leaders’ workshops and state judges’ training.  She continues to sponsor plaques for county record keeping winners.
