Iowa 4-H Foundation to honor 4-H supporters at 2025 Legacy Awards
Award recipients announced
AMES, Iowa— The Iowa 4-H Foundation is proud to announce the honorees to be recognized at the 10th Annual Iowa 4-H Legacy Awards Gala. The Legacy Awards celebrates Iowa 4-H and recognizes those who have made an important impact on the program. Slated for 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 21 at Prairie Meadows in Altoona, this signature fundraising event will showcase Iowa 4-H and raise funds to support the Program.
The evening will feature interactive 4-H exhibits, dinner and awards ceremony. Throughout the course of the evening, four supporters of the 4-H Program will be honored:
- Outstanding Partner: Alliant Energy
With a commitment to the communities they serve, Alliant Energy has invested in 4-H programming to help young people engage with STEM in a new way. Their partnership has allowed for the expansion of 4-H STEM programming across the state. - Individual Supporters: Tim & Vicki Heiller
The Heillers have been long-time 4-H supporters. They have stayed engaged with the 4-H Program as 4-H parents, through their service to Boone County 4-H and as supporters of the Iowa 4-H Foundation. Vicki is also a past-president of the 4-H Foundation Board. - Outstanding Iowa 4-H Alum: Kirt Walker
Kirt Walker is CEO of Nationwide, one of the world's largest insurance and financial services companies. A Kossuth County 4-H alum, Kirt credits his time in 4-H with helping him to develop leadership skills and a commitment to serving others. - Contributing Youth: Meabh Hennessy
Story County 4-H'er Meabh Hennessy has taken a non-traditional 4-H path. Joining the Team Neutrino 4-H Club as a high school student, Maebh has found her niche developing and working on robotics competitions while sharing her passion for STEM with the community and partners.
“We look forward to the Legacy Awards Gala every year to share the impact of the Iowa 4-H Program,” said Emily Saveraid, Iowa 4-H Foundation Executive Director. “Not only do we get to highlight 4-H’ers, but we get to tell inspiring stories from our supporters.”
Attendees will have an opportunity to make a contribution to support Iowa 4-H during the dessert auction. Dollars raised support the Iowa 4-H Foundation’s mission to fund 4-H youth programs delivered by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and to provide other opportunities-- state recognition, national 4-H trips, college scholarships and special programs, which enhance the Iowa 4-H experience.
Event admission is $125 a person or $1,000 for a table sponsorship, which includes admission for eight.
Registration must be made before February 19. More information on the Gala and registration can be found at www.iowa4hfoundation.org/awards. The event is presented by Iowa Farm Bureau, Kemin and Nationwide.
The Iowa 4-H Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides private financial resources to develop and deliver quality 4-H youth programs to over 100,000 young people throughout the state of Iowa.
These programs and opportunities help enhance 4-H’ers’ ability to use critical thinking, leadership, communication, and social skills. More information at www.iowa4hfoundation.org.
