Originally from Pomeroy, Iowa, Mary is a Calhoun County 4-H alum, and has been involved with ISU Extension for over 20 years. She served in various capacities in Warren, Calhoun, Shelby, Greene and mostly recently Boone County. She also served as program assistant with the 4-H ag and livestock programs at the state 4-H office on the ISU campus. Mary is a graduate of Iowa State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science and a masters degree in interdisciplinary studies. Her background is strong in livestock, 4-H and communications. Mary, along with her husband Larry Pote, live on a farm south of Coon Rapids where they own and operate a small commercial cow/calf operation.
