Claudia Putnam
4-H County - Muscatine County
Claudia Putnam Has Been A Leader For 15 Years And The Poultry Superintendent Since 1998, And In 2010 She Was Inducted Into The Iowa Hall Of Fame. The Committee Especially Liked Her Large Impact On Her Community. She Had Created Solutions In Her County When None Were To Be Found, Solutions That Could Be Utilized For The 4-H Program In Counties Across Iowa. Some Of Putnam Solutions Included: Creating A 4-H Art Show That Displayed Her 4-H Club Members Art For The General Public Rather Than The Fair, Creating A Series Of Classes That Showed The Production Side Of Beef And Sheep Rather Than Their Show Sides, And Teaching 4-Hers How To Give Shots, Worm, Feed Rations, And Various Breeding Characteristics.
She Also Started An Open Bottle Lamb Show Where K-3rd Graders Could Show Lambs In Addition To The Bottle Bucket Calf Show. In Her Community She Keeps A Church’s Doors Open For Community Service Projects Like Soup Suppers And Fund Raisers. The Committee Liked These Solutions Because They Directly Affected The Iowa 4-H Youth. Putnam Also Began Preparing 4-Hers For The Future By Putting Them In Charge Of Their Own Projects. She Is Teaching Kids The Values Of Working Hard To Become Successful.
