The 2021 Honorees

Individual Supporters:  The Mahr Family (Marvin & Linda, Indianola, Iowa; Larry & Barbara, Oregon, Wisconsin; Loren & Carol, Indianola, Iowa; Roger & Marilyn, St. Charles, Illinois)

The Mahr family’s love for their parents and passion for 4-H shows through their generosity of giving back to the students. Marvin, Larry, Loren and Roger Mahr were greatly shaped by their parents’ dedication and involvement with 4-H.  Larry initiated the Mahr Family 4-H Scholarship in 1999 to recognize Iowa State University students in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the College of Veterinary Medicine. Since that time, the entire family has been involved with the scholarship, interviewing each finalist and helping to select the recipients.

Outstanding Alum:  Cristen Clark (Runnells, Iowa)

Cristen Clark grew up on a century farm in Polk County and is a 9-year alumni of the PC-Champions 4-H Club in Jasper County. Cristen is known for her work with the Food & Family Project and her Food & Swine blog promoting agriculture and connecting consumers with farmers. Cristen continues to be involved with 4-H with her own children and started the Owned and Bred Project for 4-H’ers who farrow their own pigs in Polk County.

Corporate Partner:  Iowa Pork Producers Association (Des Moines, Iowa)

The Iowa Pork Producers Association has been a partner with Iowa 4-H for decades. Focusing on the leadership opportunities 4-H provides, IPPA has supported 4-H’ers to attend National 4-H Congress for many years, originally sponsoring the Swine award when the event was in Chicago. Recently IPPA invested in the development of the Iowa 4-H online platform AnimalU to better educate youth about the entire livestock industry process.

Contributing Youth:  Diana Davison (Waukon, Iowa)

Diana Davison, an Allamakee County 4-H’er, lives by the motto “Take the risk or lose the chance.” Heavily involved in 4-H, Diana has taken the opportunities provided by the 4-H Program and run with them. She discovered her love and talent for photography and is now pursuing it as a career. She includes other 4-H’ers as she honors veterans with the Quilts of Valor project and gained the confidence to become Iowa Teen Miss United States Agriculture, 2020.
