AMES, Iowa- The Iowa 4-H Foundation has announced applications are now available for its 4-H scholarship program. Approximately 82 scholarship opportunities valued at over $75,350 will be awarded.
AMES, Iowa—The Iowa 4-H Foundation and Hills Bank & Trust partnership announces its 201 Leadership Grants for high school juniors for the fall of 2016. For the past 15 years, Hills Bank & Trust Company has partnered with the Iowa 4-H Foundation to provide college scholarship opportunities for Iowa 4-H youth who reside in the bank's service area. In 2002, Hills Bank established a permanent scholarship endowment, which now provides 20 - $1,000 grants for high school seniors to attend any accredited Iowa college, university, or community college. Applicants apply during their junior year in high school and must attend at least nine hours of leadership training sponsored by Hills Bank & Trust in order to qualify for the award.
AMES, Iowa – A record breaking 125 Iowa 4-H volunteers from ninety-one counties were inducted into the 2015 Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame on Sunday, August 23 at the 4-H Exhibits Building at the Iowa State Fair. Inductees or their representatives were presented a certificate by the Iowa 4-H Foundation as they were introduced on stage. A reception, sponsored by donors to the Iowa 4-H Foundation, was held shortly after the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame presentations.
AMES, Iowa – The Successful Farming/Loren Kruse Outstanding Iowa 4-H Leader award is presented each year to an adult volunteer who has encouraged, challenged, and inspired Iowa 4-H members to achieve at their fullest potential. This year’s recipient is Wilfred "Wil" Groves, III, of Jewell, Iowa. Groves is a past 4-H leader of the Freedom Warriors 4-H Club and has served 4-H as a volunteer leader in Hamilton County for over 35 years.
Ames, IA-- In 2008, a deadly tornado struck a Boy Scout camp in western Iowa. In response to that tragedy, the Iowa 4-H Foundation committed to constructing a tornado safe room at the Iowa 4-H Center in Madrid to protect campers in the event of severe weather. The facility was officially dedicated on July 1 following the completion of construction this past fall. 4-H supporters came together to celebrate this space and experience camp at the Iowa 4-H Center.

AMES, Iowa – Emily Saveraid was named as Development Director of the Iowa 4-H Foundation effective Jan. 14, 2015. Emily graduated from Wartburg College and earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations and political science and is currently pursuing her masters in Philanthropy and Non Profit Development from the University of Northern Iowa.
AMES, Iowa – Throwing a surprise together is never easy, but on Wednesday, June 25 the Iowa 4-H Foundation and Successful Farming did just that at the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference Banquet being held in Iowa State University’s Hilton Coliseum. With over 700 Iowa 4-H’ers, chaperones, Extension and Outreach professionals, Iowa State faculty, and Iowa 4-H Foundation trustees in attendance Michael Tupper, an Iowa 4-H Foundation Youth Trustee, announced his independent selection committee had selected Barb Determan as the 2014 Successful Farming/Loren Kruse Outstanding Iowa 4-H Leader. Determan is 4-H Club Leader of the Early Achievers 4-H Club in Early, Iowa.
“I was completely surprised and I am very humble to receive such a high honor,” said Determan an Iowa 4-H leader who is officially in her 33 year as a volunteer Iowa 4-H leader. “I am very excited to help grow the legacy of Successful Farming’s support to Iowa’s 4-H youth. Loren Kruse’s story always inspired me, much like my mother who was my 4-H leader so many years ago.”
AMES, Iowa – At the direction of the 2013-2014 4-H State Council, 354 4-H clubs representing 81 counties participated in the Iowa 4-H’ers for 4-H Campaign - the longest-running and the largest fundraising campaign conducted by 4-H members for 4-H members. This year’s campaign raised $25,642.70 to support Iowa 4-H youth programs and activities. $1,013.14 of this year’s campaign funds will help complete the tornado safe room at the Iowa 4-H Center. The remaining funds from the campaign will fund state events such as the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference, operation costs of the 2014-2015 State Council, and fund financial assistance to help 4-H families with state program fees and 4-H camp fees at the Iowa 4-H Center.
AMES, Iowa- Andy Determan was welcomed to the Iowa 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees at their annual meeting on October 11, 2013 held at the Meredith Corporation headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa.

Tuesday: Heart
· A “What 4-H Means to Me” board to see how 4-H has impacted the staff at the state office.
· The Iowa 4-H Foundation will be releasing recently added county histories on their website.
Wednesday: Health
· The foundation staff will be joining the Healthiest State Initiative’s Healthiest State Walk at Iowa State University at noon participating in the North Loop.
· Staff will be bringing healthy GREEN Snacks such as green apples, broccoli, and sugar snap peas.
Thursday: Hands
The foundation will be donating items to the Rosedale Shelter in Ames, which is sponsored by the Youth and Shelter Services, Inc.
Friday: 4-H Green Day
Volunteers and Staff will be showing off 4-H pride by wearing green to work!
Patience, the ability to not give up on a difficult task, and to keep trying at something you want to accomplish are three keys to the Iowa 4-H Camera Corps program, sponsored annually by Nationwide Agribusiness. Since inception in 2004, this program has substantially grown with more than 100 youth applying to participate this year. Youth from across the Midwest have been involved in the program, including participants from Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Wyoming, and Arkansas.
