Iowa 4-H Foundation to honor 4-H supporters at 2018 Legacy Awards

Award honorees announced

AMES, Iowa— The Iowa 4-H Foundation announces the honorees to be recognized at the 2018 Iowa 4-H Legacy Awards Gala which celebrates Iowa 4-H and recognizes those who have made an important impact on the program. Slated for 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 23 at the State Historical Building, in Des Moines, this signature fundraising event will showcase Iowa 4-H and raise funds to support the Program.

The evening will feature interactive 4-H exhibits, dinner and awards ceremony. Throughout the course of the evening, four supporters of the 4-H Program will be honored:

• Corporate Partner: DuPont Pioneer, Des Moines; Contributor to Iowa 4-H youth and programs, including over 20 years as sponsor of the Pioneer Seed Grants
• Individual Supporter: Florine & Ron Swanson, Galt; Influential 4-H members, parents and volunteers for over 60 years; Florine also served as the Executive Director of the Iowa 4-H Foundation from 1987-2005
• Outstanding Young Alum: Rachel Wall, Iowa City; Dietician for Johnson County ISU Extension & Outreach
• Contributing Youth: Eric Keller, Gladbrook; Tama County 4-H’er and national 4-H shooting sports ambassador

“We look forward to honoring these outstanding individuals, recognizing their contributions to the 4-H Program and highlighting the great experiences that all youth can have through Iowa 4-H,” said Emily Saveraid, Iowa 4-H Foundation Executive Director.  “We’re thrilled to host this event to celebrate Iowa 4-H and we are grateful to the generous sponsors and individual donors who make this event possible.”

Attendees will have an opportunity to make a contribution to support Iowa 4-H during the dessert auction. Dollars raised support the Iowa 4-H Foundation’s mission to fund 4-H youth programs delivered by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and to provide other opportunities-- state recognition, national 4-H trips, college scholarships and special programs, which enhance the Iowa 4-H experience.

Event admission is $125 a person or $1,000 for a table sponsorship, which includes admission for eight. Registration must be made before February 11.
