Saveraid Named Executive Director of the Iowa 4-H Foundation
AMES, Iowa- The Iowa 4-H Foundation has announced that Emily Saveraid has been named Executive Director of the Iowa 4-H Foundation, effective July 1, 2017. Saveraid has been with the Foundation since 2015 serving as the director of development.
“We’re thrilled to have Emily take on this role; she has already proven to be an asset to the Foundation,” said Doug Den Adel, president of the Iowa 4-H Foundation Board. “She believes in the power of the 4-H Program and her passion is evident. We look forward to continuing to connect with donors, alumni and friends as we work to grow our support of the Iowa 4-H Program.”
A former Linn County 4-H’er, Saveraid spent nine years in the program and participated in projects such as sheep, horse, communications and leadership. She was a member of the State 4-H Youth Council, served as a youth trustee on the Iowa 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees and was a State Project Award recipient. Emily graduated from Wartburg College and has a master’s degree in Philanthropy and Non Profit Development from the University of Northern Iowa. Prior to joining the Foundation in 2015, she worked for the Iowa Wine Growers Association and the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation.
“The Iowa 4-H Program had a definite impact on my life as a young person, and it is an honor to serve the organization in this capacity as an adult,” Saveraid said. “I would not be where I am today without the 4-H Program and I look forward to ensuring that these important 4-H opportunities remain available and accessible to all young people across the state of Iowa.”
Saveraid will focus on soliciting support for the State 4-H Program priority areas, financial aid and scholarships, and Clover Woods Camp & Retreat Center. She will also be putting renewed energy toward cultivating relationships with 4-H alumni. She replaces Albert Grunenwald who left the Foundation in April.
The Iowa 4-H Foundation provides funds for many of the opportunities – recognition, national 4-H trips, scholarships and special programs– that allow young people to experience the benefits of 4-H. The opportunities we help fund for young people enhance their ability to use critical thinking, leadership, communication, and social skills – tools that will give them a competitive edge in their future endeavors.
