Van Nest to Serve on Iowa 4-H Foundation Board

Heather Van Nest selected to serve on the Iowa 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees

AMES, Iowa-  Heather Van Nest of Ankeny was selected to serve on the Iowa 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees at its annual meeting Friday, October 16, 2015 held at the Hertz Farm Management corporate office in Nevada, Iowa.

Heather is the Global Application Product Line Marketing Manager for John Deere in Ankeny, Iowa. She was a nine year member of the Sac City Busy Bees 4-H Club in Sac County. Van Nest graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and Kelly School of Business at Indiana University with a MBA in Strategic Management.

“4-H played a significant role in my development as a person and as a leader. It helped shape my capabilities and talents in communication and leadership,” said Van Nest.

"Like many Iowa 4-H alumni, Heather brings the enthusiasm and passion to pay her 4-H experience forward for the next generation," said Albert Grunenwald, Executive Director of the Iowa 4-H Foundation.  “We are excited to add her leadership experience to our board."

Along with one newly elected youth trustee, Van Nest joins a 24-member board that provides the vision and fiscal oversight for the Iowa 4-H Foundation. The Iowa 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees is comprised of volunteers from both the public and private sectors who are leaders in their respective fields.

 The Iowa 4-H Foundation provides the private financial resources to develop and deliver quality 4-H youth programs throughout the state of Iowa. These opportunities help young people enhance their ability to use critical thinking, leadership, communication, and social skills – tools that will give them a competitive edge in their future endeavors.
