Going for the Green Northwest Iowa 4-H Golf Tournament Raises over $100,000

Ames, IA—Nearly 150 Iowa 4-H supporters gathered on June 19 at Emerald Hills Golf Course in Arnolds Park to celebrate 4-H and raise funds for Iowa’s 4-H’ers. Event sponsorships combined with an exciting live auction raised over $100,000 for the Iowa 4-H Foundation. In its fourth year, this event continues to grow both in terms of number of participants and dollars raised.

“We were pleased to see the number of people who were interested in being a part of our golf outing,” said Albert Grunenwald, Executive Director of the Iowa 4-H Foundation. “Northwest Iowa has a strong 4-H presence, so it’s not surprising that so many came out to help raise money for Iowa 4-H.”

Golfers enjoyed a beautiful day of golf, capped off by a steak dinner and live auction. Participants also had the opportunity to hear from two local 4-H’ers; Jordan Hansen from Clay County and Jacob Clark from Calhoun County.

“Hearing Jordan and Jacob talk about their 4-H experiences and what the program means to them was really one of the highlights of the day,” said Bob Butcher, president of the Iowa 4-H Foundation Board and Golf Outing Chair. “We hold this event to raise money to support the 4-H Program and their perspective helps to drive home that point.”

This event would not be possible without the support of many local sponsors. DuPont Pioneer, Holstein was the presenting sponsor. Event sponsors include: Scoular Company, Prairie Village, KS; Carroll Co. State Bank, Carroll; Community Bank, Spirit Lake; Quad County Corn Processors, Galva; Stine Seed, Waukee and Syngenta, Vermillion, SD.

The Iowa 4-H Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and provides the private financial resources to develop and deliver quality 4-H youth programs throughout the state of Iowa. These opportunities help young people enhance their ability to use critical thinking, leadership, communication, and social skills – tools that will give them a competitive edge in their future endeavors.
