Iowa 4-H Foundation to host 6th Annual 4-H Gala in Cedar Rapids

AMES, Iowa— “Making the Best Better,” is an ideal all 4-H’ers strive to achieve. The 4-H Foundation’s premier fundraiser is no exception! In its second year in eastern Iowa, the Iowa 4-H Foundation Gala will be better than ever! Slated for 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 28 at the Cedar Rapids Marriott, guests will enjoy an elegant evening of food and conversation paired with silent and live auctions. Supporting Iowa 4-H couldn’t be more fun!

The silent auction will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the Live Auction starting at 8:15 p.m. In addition to live and silent auctions, the purse and dessert auctions are back by popular demand! Auction highlights include:

• Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament tickets
• Choice of two tickets to any Big 10 men’s basketball game at the University of Iowa
• Private Tour of San Francisco by a former 4-H State Officer and resident of California
• Better Homes & Gardens Test Kitchen Experience
• Packages made and contributed by local 4-H members. Half the funds raised will go back to their local club or county.

“This event has an enormous impact on the Foundation’s efforts to support 4-H programs in Iowa,” said Albert Grunenwald, Iowa 4-H Foundation Executive Director. “Proceeds from the Gala help us to fund many opportunities for Iowa’s youth all year. Our generous sponsors and individual donors make this event possible.”

In its sixth year, the Gala has raised nearly $450,000. Dollars raised support 4-H experiences beyond the county level, provide college scholarships and fund facility improvements at the Iowa 4-H Center in Madrid.

Event admission is $100 for individuals, $150 for couples, $1,000 for a table sponsorship, which includes admission for ten. Popular discounts return for young 4-H alumni (age 21-30) and current 4-H/Extension staff for $50 per attendee. Registration must be made in advance.
