AMES, Iowa- Albert Grunenwald has been named Executive Director of the Iowa 4-H Foundation by the organization’s governing board effective September 23, 2014. Grunenwald has more than 19 years of experience working with youth and the Iowa 4-H Foundation.
“Albert has the passion and vision to lead this organization,” says Mitch Baum, Iowa 4-H Foundation president. “Albert has many years of fundraising experience and he is a valuable asset to the Iowa 4-H Foundation.”
“I am extremely honored to serve the Iowa 4-H Foundation in the capacity of Executive Director,” says Albert Grunenwald. “I look forward to continuing the success of this organization by ‘Making the Best Better’ for Iowa’s 4-H Youth.”
“Albert brings keen knowledge of 4-H by having been a former 4-H member and a current 4-H parent,” says Baum. “He has a proven track record of success and leadership in his career.”
Grunenwald is a former Minnesota 4-H member of ten years where he was active in the leadership, communication and performing arts project areas. He worked for the Redwood County Extension in Minnesota before making the move to Iowa to serve as the Development Assistant of the Iowa 4-H Foundation. He recently served as the Foundation’s Chief Operating Officer and Interim Executive Director.
Grunenwald graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Communication and English Writing. He is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFV) in central Iowa and has been certified as a fundraising executive. The association fosters the development and growth of fundraising professionals and promotes high ethical standards in the fundraising profession.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to provide funding for Iowa 4-H youth programming and we believe Albert will continue to build the foundation’s resources,” Baum said. “I look forward to working with him and the rest of the foundation staff as we continue to provide funding opportunities for Iowa’s 4-H Youth.”
Grunenwald will focus on fundraising priorities, including 4-H scholarships, recognition opportunities, and facility improvements at the Iowa 4-H Center near Madrid. Grunenwald replaces Kris Fish-Kuhlmann who resigned from the position of Executive Director on July 24.
