Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame Inductees

The Van Wert family has a long tradition of involvement in Franklin County 4-H and Extension programs.  As a youth Jay was part of a family that was active not only in 4-H but had leadership roles in many Franklin County and Iowa organizations. 

Jay and Sally served as 4-H leaders while their 3 children actively participated in the 4-H program.  Their children have served in 4-H leadership roles and their grandchildren have also been outstanding 4-H members.  The Van Werts are a 4 generation 4-H family.

Sally and Jay have been invaluable to the 4-H and Extension program in contacting legislators and sharing information with them about Extension and 4-H.  They have also served as strong 4-H advocates in the community. 

In her 4 terms on the County Extension Council Sally has helped guide Extension and 4-H through a number of changes.
