2009 Adams County - Donald E. Mach

2009 Adams County - Donald E. MachDon Mach is a great supporter of 4-H in Adams County. He served as Adams County 4-H photography project leader from 1983 to 2003. Don has judged many 4-H photography contests in southwest Iowa. He has also done many 4-H photography project workshops for Adams County 4-H clubs and has given workshops at Area 4-H photography trainings.

Don Mach helped start the Adams County 4-H Endowment fund in 2001 and has served as a board member for this fund since its beginning. Don and his wife Nancy have been recognized as 4-H $400 donors for the Adams County and Iowa 4-H Fundations. Don is someone who can always be counted on to help with 4-H record book judging and the many other 4-H volunteer opportunities that present themselves throughout the year.

Don Mach knows and supports Adams County 4-Hers through his work, too. Since 1992, Don has been the Adams County correspondent for KCSI radio in Red Oak. In this position, Don diligently interviews 4-Hers about their projects and activities throughout the year. He thoroughly covers the Adams County Fair and has given so many young people the opportunity to talk on the radio with his pleasant and supportive interview style.

4-H has been a big part of Don Mach’s life since he was a boy in Kansas. He came to Corning, Iowa as a media person with the National Farmers Organization in 1966, married an Adams County girl, Nancy Septer in 1969, and with her raised two Adams County 4-Hers, Lori and Katina. Don has always been active in the Adams Community in many ways, serving on the Corning school board for 9 years, as a member of the chamber agriculture committee for many years, and as president of the band parents association for several years. Don Mach was recognized with the 4-H alumni award by the Adams County 4-H committee in 1987.
