Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame Inductees

John & Lois have been lifelong supporters of the 4-H program in Monroe County.  Both served as 4-H leaders in the Melrose Community and with the outstanding support they flourished for two decades with the Melrose Majors and the Jackson Stars Clubs.  John served on the 4-H Committee, Monroe County Fairboard and was named the prestigious Honorary Member in 1994.  Lois served on the 4-H Committee and continues to volunteer her time in the Exhibit Building to this day.  She was named the Alumni recipient in 1967.  Both John & Lois supported their 4 children Joann Knowles McDonald, Sheila Knowles Denburger, Mike & Joe Knowles through their years of 4-H.  They also have 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.   They continue to give graciously back to the Monroe County 4-H program through their sponsorship of awards and trophies in the beef department.  Monroe County is honored and grateful to have such strong 4-H supporters in John & Lois Knowles.
