Charles and Dorothy Varley of Stuart were both 4-H members with a love for the beef project. They both served as 4-H club leaders in Adair County for Jefferson township clubs. In addition, they were chaperones for the Adair County exhibitors at the Iowa State Fair and Ak-Sar-Ben for many years. All three of their children and seven grandchildren have been members of the Adair County 4-H program.
Charles and Dorothy continue to raise Angus cattle with their son under the Varley Angus name. They support the 4-H program as annual donors to the Friends of 4-H Recordkeepers program.
