Roy and Louise were former 4-H members themselves, who gave back to the program in Lucas County. For over 30 years, they volunteered in the Horse Department. They were committed to helping 4-H’ers have the same competitive edge as everyone else as they exhibited their horse(s). They conducted horse clinics and practice sessions for over 25 years to teach 4-H’ers about exhibiting their horse(s). They also held a grooming and clipping clinic just prior to the show at the fair free of charge to help 4-H’ers get their horses ready for the show.
Roy and Louise were long time sponsors of the Junior Showmanship and Senior Showmanship classes. Judges would always comment on the great quality of our 4-H showmen in the Horse Department. In 1991, Roy and Louise were both honored as the 4-H Alumni for Lucas County.
