2008 Mills County - Carol Tedder

Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame Inductees

2008 Mills County - Carol Tedder

Carol TedderCarol Tedder was an 8 year 4-H member in Hancock County.  Her favorite exhibits included refinishing furniture in Home Improvement, sewing, and food and nutrition.  She enjoyed going to the Iowa State Fair every year.  Carol was a Youth Leader and served on many committees throughout her 4-H years.
In Mills County, Ms. Tedder has been a leader in many different capacities for over 18 years.  She was a leader of the Lively Oaks 4-H club for more than a decade.  Even though her own children have been out of the 4-H program for several years, she continues to provide leadership and direction for the youth of Mills County.
Carol was an active Youth Committee Member serving as committee chair and secretary.  She often volunteers to conduct interviews with our 4-H seniors because she believes this is one way to give them experiences that help them develop life skills.  She also assists in the planning of workshops, provides input on further development of the 4-H program, and is a good sounding board for new ideas on promoting 4-H. Carol serves as superintendent in the Open Class areas at the county fair.  She spends time in the exhibit buildings at the fair and assists with 4-H and open class judging.
Ms. Tedder became a Master Gardener for Extension two years ago.  She utilizes her horticulture knowledge and skills as she works with County Council youth.  She also passes this passion on to the kindergarten students she teaches.
Carol is an excellent volunteer who is enthusiastic and friendly to all youth and adults.  She displays high integrity, patience and a desire to help others.  She truly models the heart of 4-H in Mills County through her words and actions.  We are pleased that Carol Tedder continued her 4-H career in Mills County.  Congratulations on your Hall of Fame induction.
